Chris LaFountain, CF APMP
Proposal Management Consultant

With nearly 20 years of experience managing proposals, Chris brings vast proposal management and development experience to Theme’s clients. He is adept at leading and aligning cross-functional teams on a common path to success, using industry best practices to manage proposals that comply with solicitation requirements and respond to an organization’s needs. In addition to managing $700 million of winning proposals to organizations such as the State of Michigan, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, the State of Minnesota, the Ohio State University, Bank of America, and Dell Technologies, Chris has built formal proposal infrastructure, including processes, technology, and staffing, for three separate organizations.

As a Proposal Management Consultant at Theme, Chris manages various aspects of proposals for Theme’s clients, including running kick-off meetings, creating templates, writing, managing assignments, coordinating graphic design, facilitating reviews, and producing customer-facing proposals and related deliverables.

Chris’s experience includes proposals of various complexities in both the private and public sectors, which include the following:

  • Five years experience at Virgin Pulse, a health technology company serving private and public sector organizations around the world
  • Six years experience in the energy conservation industry serving U.S. utilities and public sector agencies
  • Five years experience supporting organizations in winning contracts with various Federal agencies such as the Department of Defense, the Department of Energy, and the General Services Administration

His proudest accomplishment was receiving an MVP award while at Virgin Pulse. The MVP was an employee-driven award, where employees nominated team members to receive a monthly award from the company. Chris was nominated for this work on complex proposals in the United States and the Netherlands, and he was given the award by Sir Richard Branson at an in-person event.

Outside of managing proposals, Chris serves as a mentor to those in the proposal industry to advance their careers.
